He's practiced medicine in South Florida for nearly three decades, seen over 15,000 patients, and delivered more than 5,000 babies. But for Juan Castillo-Plaza, M.D. that's only the beginning when it comes to providing care for others. As a longtime successful obstetrician and gynecologist, Castillo-Plaza has had to deal with skin conditions and changes related to hormone shifts, pregnancy, sun exposure and nutritional issues; as well as a wide variety of skin types specific to the South Florida population. He has also seen aging firsthand from generation to generation, delivering not only children, but also grandchildren within the same families. As a versatile and accomplished surgeon his training and experience in the use of laser over the years gives him even more of an edge at being proficient in the field of medical aesthetics.

In keeping with his decision to broaden further his career, Castillo-Plaza has jumped on board with Dermacare™, a national physician-based, medically oriented laser treatment and skin care franchise company. He opened the first Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinic in Pembroke Pines at Pines Professional Campus in December 2006 and is continuing to open additional clinics in the tri-county area.

"Patients want what's safest, newest, and best for them," states Castillo-Plaza. "They are looking for state-of-the-art services performed by doctors and trained clinicians in medical facilities. They want a great service, an enhanced look, a youthful feeling and a trustworthy physician. That's what I'm focused on providing."

When asked about what fuels his dedication, he shrugs modestly and remarks, "It's about the people. I enjoy seeing my patients get the most out of life. I like innovation. Mostly, I like making a difference." And he does.
